Every so often, some troll passes by and starts changing Ukrainian names to Russian names. Which has got me thinking. What should be the wiki's official stance?

Should the names be in Ukrainian, as long as they are not being quoted from game material?

For example, SEVA suit was developed in Kiev, as per the game's description. But talking about real life, GSC Game World is based in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Another point would be Cyrillic character, faction, item and location names - should they be from the Ukrainian localization or Russian?

For example: "Wolf (ukr. Вовк)", or "Wolf (ru. Волк)"?

Would be glad to hear what the community thinks before we have a turf war with Starlink IP addresses.

It’s Soviet Union area and back in 80s and early 90s majority of Northern Ukraine spoke Russians it’s only after 2009 when everything was changed to Ukrainian

Well, for your consideration:

• GSC is officially using the Ukrainian language now, and officially the correct transliteration is Ukrainian. So once Stalker 2 content starts coming in, everything will start using Ukrainian transliteration.

• GSC has also made the Ukrainian transliteration official in the Legends of the Zone trilogy

• Ukrainian localization was first released on 29th December 2007

• Even in the 00s, the road signs were Ukrainian

When it's game content, then it can't be changed, that's out of the question. But when it's outside the game? That's more difficult. Should we use, as you say, Soviet naming, or should we use the modern Ukrainian naming which is being used by the developers today?

@BillyNillyWilly yeah but no one lives in Pripyat so why would they change the signs. Plus no need to write paragraphs about starlinks and stuff. Obviously game will be in Ukrainian. But it would be better if they also add Russian and English translation because Kyrgyz people, American Russians, Belarusians, Russians, even some Moldovans. Speak Russians also lot of people who came from kyiv in the 90s to USA speak Russian. It would be dumb keeping stalker only in Ukrainian. 260 million people speak russian and 40 million speak Ukrainian. I know sanctions are placed on Russia but not every Russian is responsible for the war it’s Putin sanctioning video games is profit loss
