5.45x39mm BP, also known as 5.45x39mm AP, is a type of rifle ammunition featured in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.

General characteristics[]

BP rounds have an armor-piercing metal core. This gives it significantly better performance over standard 5.45x39mm FMJ rounds against armor. Due to its higher penetration, it can even penetrate some thicker walls and floors with little difficulty.

Compatible Weapons[]

Apperances[]

Shadow of Chernobyl[]

An armor-piercing round for the Akm 74/2, the Akm 74/2U and the ON-94 assault rifles. It has an improved armor-piercing effect, but a decreased stopping effect.
― In-game description

Compared to the standard 5.45x39mm rounds, 5.45x39mm BP ammunition offers significantly better penetration (75%) but causes weapons to degrade 2% faster. Contrary to what the in-game description claims, there is no stopping power penalty.

Locations[]

They can be found at the following locations:

Clear Sky[]

Armor-piercing round for automatic rifles of Warsaw Pact countries. Suitable for the Akm 74/2U, Akm 74/2 and AC96/2 assault rifles.
― In-game description

In Clear Sky, 5.45x39mm BP rounds do feature lower stopping power (30%) than the standard 5.45x39mm ammunition, but feature better armor penetration.

Locations[]

These bullets are much more common in Clear Sky, being sold by several Loners traders, Mitay, and Professor Sakharov. They are used by Loners, Duty soldiers, and Military soldiers. Non-secret stashes in the Cordon contain these rounds, including one under the wrecked bridge, one in the Rookie Village, one in the Loners base, and one in the Military outpost. Similar stashes contain these bullets in the Agroprom.

Call of Pripyat[]

Military 5.45x39 7H22 caliber armor-piercing round for automatic rifles of Warsaw Pact countries. The bullet contains a hard-alloy armor piercing penetrator. Effective against body armor.
― In-game description

In Call of Pripyat, 5.45x39mm AP no longer features any disadvantage, instead directly offering better penetration than the standard ammunition.

Locations[]

These rounds are quite common compared to prior games. Nearly any Stalker above the rank of Novice has a chance of carrying at least a few rounds, and most Veterans and Masters will carry them only. It can be easily salvaged from fallen Duty and Monolith members. Stalkers also use these rounds more often, making them more dangerous in combat compared to Novices and other weaker ranks. Both Owl and Hawaiian sell them regardless of the player's choices.

60 rounds can be periodically obtained from Lieutenant Kirillov in Pripyat. The second of Strelok's stashes in Yanov contains 180 of these rounds, and 120 rounds may be found in Snag's stash at the end of the mission Theft.

Trivia[]
