The SP-6 munitions were developed by Yuri Folov and optimized for penetration through any type of conventional body armor, in fact SP-6 rounds can penetrate through 30 layers of Kevlar at 200m, through 2mm of steel at 500m or 8mm at 100m. In game terms these rounds are capable of tearing through any type of body armor and are better suited to be chambered in assault rifles like the Tunder S14 as they don't greatly enhance the accuracy of the weapon unlike the SP-5.

Overview[edit | edit source]

Inventory icon

9x39mm SP-6 has the best performance all-round of any assault rifle ammunition - it has the same penetration ability of the much heavier 7.62x54mm PP rounds used in the RP-74, and lower air resistance. Its only limitation is its weight, by far the highest of any assault rifle munition, and the low velocity it is fired at, capping its effective range.

It can also be found in 9x39mm PAB-9 and 9x39mm SP-5 variants.

Usage[edit | edit source]

These rounds are used in the VLA Special Assault Rifle, Tunder S14 and the Vintar BC.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The letters "SP" stand for Spetsialnyj Patron ("Special Cartridge").
  • The words in Cyrillic script beneath the metric dimensions are "SP-6" and Bron. an abbreviation for "Broneboin'ie Pulya" (Armour-Piercing Bullet)
  • The words in Cyrillic script along the left-hand side of the box are: VSS, Val, Tiss, & Groza, indicating the weapons that chamber the round.

Appearances[edit | edit source]

Shadow of Chernobyl[edit | edit source]

In Shadow of Chernobyl, three hundred of these bullets are always spawned in a small box in the Dark Valley. This box is located inside of the building that contains the entrance to lab X-18. A further 60-90 appear from packing cases on the underground approach to Lab X-16. You can get a decent amount of 9x39mm SP-6 bullets by doing jobs for Duty. Some stashes include this type of ammunition, namely in the Army Warehouses, the Red Forest, and in Pripyat.

Clear Sky[edit | edit source]

Mitay will sell these rounds if the player joins Duty, and Sakharov may sell them at times. However the Duty trader in the Red Forest will sell these rounds even if the player hasn't joined Duty. Second trader in Flea Market also usually sells small amount of this ammunition. Some Duty and Monolith experts may have these bullets with them, and many Renegades in the Red Forest carry this type of ammunition. Most of the Bandits located in Limansk carry small amounts of SP-6 rounds. There is also a fixed spawn of 2 metal cases of SP-6 rounds each contaning 60 bullets in the Agroprom underground after flooding it. The cases can be found at the top of the staircase after surfacing.

Call of Pripyat[edit | edit source]

The SP-6 type of rounds are hard to come by in Call of Pripyat. Hawaiian and Owl may sell them later in the game, the latter may require completing his quests. Small amounts can be received for free by asking Lt. Kirillov for this type of ammunition in Pripyat, or by finishing the mutant hunting quests in Yanov.
