Our scanners registered unusual activity north of here... Judging by the received data, I expect that the anomalous formation there is unstable. Unfortunately, I can't say any more than that from here. We need to conduct research in the field... The only thing I can say is that regular stalker detectors won't be able to detect the anomaly - you'll need a Svarog, one of our own inventions.
― Hermann
Anomalous activity is a mission in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.
Description[]
After placing the first three Anomalous Activity Scanners during the mission Anomaly research, the player can take this mission from Hermann by asking him about the scanners. Hermann will tell the player that the detectors picked up an unusual activity at the Cooling tower and ask the player to investigate.
For this mission, the player will need a Svarog detector, a rare and experimental detector, which can only be acquired by completing the mission Tempting Business or by buying it from Hermann after the achievement Research Assistant has been obtained. With the detector in the player's possession, the next step is the Cooling Tower proper.
At the Cooling Tower, one can hear a transmission, however nothing unusual is visible. The mysterious anomaly, the Space Anomaly, will only become visible by taking out the Svarog detector, and when the player gets close to the anomaly with the Svarog detector in hand, the anomaly vanishes, and emits harmless sparks for a moment and then drops General Tachenko's and his men's bodies, as well as their weapons and a First-aid kit. This completes the mission.
Reward[]
There is no reward for this mission. The player can loot Tachenko's body for his PDA which triggers a new mission, Duty History.
Notes[]
- The Space Anomaly can be destroyed at any time after the Svarog detector has been obtained, without taking the mission from Hermann. The bodies of Tachenko's group will still appear once the anomaly implodes, and Hermann will simply not bring up the subject.
