An Apparition is a ghost-like image generated by Psi-emissions and resembles a mutant, appearing in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky.
Overview[]
Apparitions take the form of common mutants in the Zone, like Boars, Snorks, Pseudodogs and Bloodsuckers. They charge and pounce at stalkers inside the emission field, looking like their originals in slow-motion, exploding into nothing once they make contact with and or are shot once with any weapon.
Apparitions actually deal psy damage, but even on Master difficulty this is hardly noticeable. A more concerning factor is how they disturb the player's vision much like being around a Controller, only on a much lesser scale. However, that doesn't make the effect any less dangerous, as the foggy vision may cause other dangers such as Monolith snipers to go unnoticed.
Apearances[]
Shadow of Chernobyl[]
They are only seen in the Red Forest on the route to the Brain Scorcher. They disappear completely once the emitter is shut down.
Clear Sky[]
They are first seen in the Controller room in the Agroprom Underground, and will last until the mutant is killed. Afterwards, the only location they can be encountered is the inside the Symbiont anomaly in Red Forest.
Notes[]
Apparitions must not be confused with the Psy dog's holographic projections. The latter look and behave just like the original and actually attack for considerable damage, while the former are slow, translucent, and disappear on contact.
