The Bulba is a unique gravitational anomaly and one of the six arch anomalies encountered in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. It is the anomaly that created the Weird Ball artifact.
General characteristics[]
The Bulba anomaly appears as a shimmering bubble hovering above the ground, where it pulses with gravitational force in a continuous cycle. It takes approximately 8 seconds to expand to its full size, dragging everything within its radius towards its center while doing so. It then collapses to its original size in a split second, causing all caught items in its gravitational field to be expelled away. Anything caught by the Bulba itself during the suction phase will be instantly crushed.
Heart of Chornobyl[]

Location on the map in the Lesser Zone, as marked by the green arrow indicator.
This is one of the first major anomalous sites encountered by the player in the Lesser Zone, specifically nearby the outer edges of the Zalissya. It is found hovering above in the middle of a medium sized pool around some trucks and vans nearby, with trees growing around the edges. Beneath the anomaly is where the Weird Ball is, a unique artifact that spawns only once in the game.
If the player were to be sucked in by the anomaly, it will deal constant damage at a fast rate while doing so, the suction force strong enough to suck them in even while running. Being caught by the Bulba will result in instant death. It is advised they wait for its brief "collapse" state before they escape as fast as possible.
It does not react to bolts nor produce artifacts naturally, other than the Weird Ball.
Trivia[]
- The Bulba anomaly was first teased in the first released trailer of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, where it had a different appearance and location.
- If one were to observe closely when the anomaly is in its "suction" phase, frogs can be seen among the items caught in its gravitational field. In fact, the trees within the area can be seen swaying according to the anomaly's influence, as well as the roofs of the vehicles forming dents and depressions.
