Everyone's talking about some weird stuff going on at the old cooling tower. If you turn on the common frequency, you catch bits and pieces of distress calls, sounding like some poor bastard trying to get out of an anomaly. When you ask for coordinates, there's no reply. The weirdest thing though is the sound. That kind of distortion can't be explained away...

The Cooling tower is a location in the area around Jupiter in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.

Overview[]

An old, industrial facility, presumably used to cool a water stream through atmospheric air. It is located northwest of Yanov station.

Appearances[]

Call of Pripyat[]

While visiting the tower, the player may hear fragmented distress calls, although there is no visible person in the area nor is there any sign of activity, similarly to the distress calls heard in the Army Warehouses in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky. Stalkers are rarely found at the tower, but mutants may be encountered in the vicinity.

One mission given by Hermann requires the player to investigate mysterious anomaly readings at the tower, using the scientists' prototype Svarog detector. The device eventually uncovers a Space Anomaly at the tower, which harmlessly self-destructs when approached with the detector at hand, dropping the bodies of General Tachenko and his squadmates at the tower.
