― The scammer
The Dark Valley scammer is a character in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.
Background[]
An unsavory experienced stalker in the Dark Valley. He leads a group of five men (himself included) which has settled at the Pig farm.
Appearances[]
Shadow of Chernobyl[]
The scammer is mentioned twice in dialogue: once by Bullet when asked about the pig farm, where he tells the player that he doesn't trust them[quote. 1]; the other by the injured stalker in the gas station who, when rescued, tells the player that the group has a Gauss rifle for sale for a measly 800 RU[quote. 2].
The scammer stands at the entrance of the pig farm's eastern building, and will call the player over. He will then tell the player that he found a stash near Yantar with a Gauss rifle in it[quote. 3], and offers to sell it for 800 RU. The player may accept his offer, or decline if they don't want to or don't have the money. If the player accepts the offer, he will retreat inside the farm building and taunt the player, and tell them off. Attempting to follow him inside will turn him and his entire group hostile.
The scammer does not have a fixed appearance, instead being randomly chosen among five different profiles, each with their own statistics and loadout, though all wear the same outfit and are ranked as experienced stalkers. His name is also randomized.

Trivia[]
- Though not initially part of his group, Vampire and Clumsy may join it later if they decide to move to the Dark Valley (which Vampire and Clumsy do almost all the time), although they might vacate the pig farm to go elsewhere depending on circumstances. The scammer and his group do not react to the player killing Vampire or Clumsy.
- Oleg "Fiend" Gusarov and Smartass may also be found at the farm.
- If the scammer is killed, then his role may be taken over by another stalker in his group, including Vampire.
- Him being located at the Pig Farm could be a form of saying that due to his behavior he can be called a pig.

Bullet: "The farm has long been abandoned and is now home to some stalkers. They didn't make a good impression on me, though, and I usually trust my gut feeling."

Injured stalker: "Right now all I can spare is a juicy tip. OK, to the South of here, there's a farm where some easygoing stalkers set up camp. One of them is selling a Gauss rifle real cheap, just 800. I was going to buy it, and then got knee deep in shit... So, if you've got the dough, go right ahead."

Scammer: "Hey, want an awesome gun? I found a little something near Yantar... a stash, I guess. There was this Gauss rifle among other things. I tell you, this thing rocks - anyone within a hundred meters of it is as good as dead..."
