The Fabrique Nationale F2000, called FT-200M in games, is an advanced bullpup assault rifle available in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.

Overview

The FT-200M is a modern weapon system developed by Belgian arms manufacturer Fabrique Nationale. The rifle is fully-automatic bullpup rifle with an integrated scope and an underbarrel GL1 grenade launcher. The weapon uses 5.56×45mm ammunition and M203 grenades.

The weapon featured in-game includes the factory stock x1.6 scope contained in a plastic housing and a GL1 grenade launcher which is also the standard grenade launcher mounted an FT-200M.

Around the time of Call of Pripyat it is supposedly the weapon of choice of recently arrived UN Observers, and the decimation of first Clear Sky and then Monolith has led to the weapon being an incredibly rare, and incredibly valuable weapon inside the Zone itself.

Capable of dealing almost 360 damage per second, even before upgrades, the FT-200M is one of the most powerful NATO assault rifles.

Modding

  • In scripts it is referred to as wpn_fn2000.

Shadow of Chernobyl

Characteristics

The FT-200M is one of the best assault rifles the player can acquire in the game. It has a permanent 1.6x scope attachment as well as a fixed grenade launcher, which makes the FT-200M a very flexible weapon. It has a high rate of fire, great damage, and it's a great choice to pick up one when facing many Monolith soldiers in the CNPP. Weapon, however, has 2 main drawbacks: one is its rather heavy weight (4,6 kg unloaded, only the IL 86 is heavier) and second is NATO ammunition, which may be hard to get in the CNPP because Monolith troops mostly use 9x39 caliber rifles, but if player took plenty of 5.56 ammo to Chernobyl, he/she shouldn't have any problems. Additionally, because the FT200M is never found in stashes or bought from anyone, it is a bit rare to find an FT200M in perfect or in near-perfect condition at the hands of monolith stalkers, these guns are usually either 1/4, 1/3, or 1/2 damaged when typically found.

Acquisition

The FT-200M can be acquired only from dead Monolith experts in Chernobyl NPP, One expert stalker armed with a FT-200M also makes presence in Arena, where player has to kill him with only 4 F1 grenades and a knife.

The FT-200M can be found in boxes at the Chernobyl NPP occasionally.

Clear Sky

Characteristics

The FT-200M is nearly identical in performance to its closest competitor, the GP37. When comparing stats, the FT-200M has marginally better accuracy prior to upgrades. Once modified for marksman purposes it is slightly inferior to the GP37 in terms of accuracy while rate of fire, handling, and damage remain the same. Like Shadow of Chernobyl, it comes with a 1.6x scope and an integrated underslung EGLM grenade launcher, though the player may modify the scope into a long-range 4x variant, as well as fix a silencer to the weapon. This is the only weapon in Clear Sky where the modification of the scope is not necessary for a specific upgrade tree, for example unlike the GP37 and the IL 86 requires you to retard the scope to x1.6 magnification to continue upgrading it for assault purposes: this is not the case of the F2000 as you can upgrade it for x4 magnification and have it built for assault purposes at the same time or you could choose to leave it at the default x1.6 magnification. However, it is rather pointless as (like all assault rifles in CS) the 4x scope will revert to 1.6 after further upgrades, changing maps, reloading saves, etc.

Acquisition

An FT-200M is given to the player as a reward by Docent Suslov after lowering the bridge to Limansk, and is automatically added to the player's inventory when he arrives in Chernobyl. The gun can be taken back to Novikov to be upgraded all the way to Tier 3, after which it is only second to the SGI 5K in damage, and the GP-37 in accuracy.

Call of Pripyat

Characteristics

Along with the Storm it is one of the most expensive guns in the game to purchase, but it is definitely worth the price – compared with its competitor the GP37, the FT-200M fires marginally quicker and does more damage, although it is less accurate, is heavier, and has more recoil, but still accurate enough for most purposes along with the fact that it comes in with a grenade launcher by default, which the GP37 cannot even mount.

It lacks significant punch compared to other high-end rifles even when fully upgraded, making it not the best sniper analogue, though it compensates for this by boasting one of the highest fire rate (and low recoil) even before upgrades, making it a very useful close-quarters rifle. When fully upgraded for close-quarters, its RPM peaks at just over 900 rounds per minute, more than enough to stun heavily armored enemies and cut them down before they can counter, making it the second fastest firing gun in the game after the Tunder S14. The integral grenade launcher is useful for clearing out rooms or dealing with swarms of zombies, but ammunition is rare to find. As a drawback, the FT-200M cannot attach a silencer, while the deceptively loud report from each shot most certainly earns some attention.

The scope is heavily modifiable, with 4x-zoom, high-contrast, and target-identification upgrades available, making it the only NATO assault rifle capable of distinguishing friend/foe when scoped in.

Near the end of the game, it becomes the weapon of choice of Mercenary Experts in the Pripyat area, and can be found in the hands of Loner Experts as well, both being easily identifiable by their Exoskeleton armor.

Acquisition

The FT-200M can be acquired from Nimble by asking for an assault rifle order, from a random Stalker near the end of the game, or by siding with Freedom in the Yanov "faction war" – the latter also requires accumulating 100 000 RU at once to earn the A Wealthy Client Achievement.

Notes

  • There is one quite annoying glitch with the F2000 in both Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat where holstering the gun is much longer than it should be, making it harder to swap to pistol/other weapon when caught with an empty magazine.

Development

F2000 b

The beta F2000, as seen in Build 1114

The F2000 is one of the first weapons that appeared in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series. It's textures can be found in Build 1098 and it can be used in Build 1114. However, it had a different model, which is based on a prototype version of the F2000. The model in the released S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games is the final version of the F2000, but the prototype's texture and model is still in the game, showing that it was changed at the last minute.
