Shadow of Chernobyl in-game description

The Fast-shooting Akm 74/2 is a unique weapon featured only in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.

Characteristics[]

This modified version of the Akm 74/2 provides a higher rate of fire and decreased recoil. The location in which it is found may suggest that Strelok's group may have used this weapon prior to their last visit to the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

This model is shown as more accurate than the base weapon, but this is due to the reduced recoil; the single-shot accuracy is the same as the Akm 74/2. This model, like the base one, can be equipped with a PSO-1 scope and the GP-25 Kostyer grenade launcher, making it a truly deadly weapon for use in Lab X-18 and even up to Lab X-16. It has a higher potential than the Obokan, although one may prefer a 5.56mm weapon, and the "Tunder" 5.45 is simply better than it.

With its high firing rate, it is a good assault weapon especially if it is mounted with a grenade launcher. Adding a scope will allow it to be a little more accurate against distant targets, but for close range it is better without the scope for a better field of vision. One of its disadvantages is that with its impressive firing rate, it consumes ammunition at an incredible rate, so firing discipline might be necessary if ammo is low. Another disadvantage is that once it is 1/3 damaged, it starts to jam frequently, just like the standard weapon. In addition, a higher fire rate and ammo spending also contributes to it degrading faster than a regular Akm 74/2, unless the user exacts strict trigger discipline.

Acquisition[]

The weapon is hidden away in Strelok's group's stash, located in the Agroprom Underground, on a shelf above an Akm 74/2U.
