The School is a location in Pripyat featured in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.

Overview[]

The School is a large building located in the central part of the city. To the west, across the street, is located the Yubileiny Service Center.

The building has an 'H' structure. The School is depicted as having half-ruined section of the southern wing, exactly like in real-life. This happened because the school was, in contrast to most other Pripyat buildings, made out of common bricks, rather than reinforced-concrete (like all the apartment buildings), a detail that is also realistically recreated in-game. Following years of disuse after being abandoned, the metallic pipes (which are going through the walls and which were still filled with water, since the evacuation was originally described as being only "temporary") rotted-away due to that water, letting the water to fill through the walls. The bricks then slowly started to disintegrate, what ultimately resulted in complete collapse of the whole section. In April 2013 - four years afterCall of Pripyat was published, another section of the same wing (the one on the opposite side - where there is an entrance through the window depicted in-game and where the respawn point of the NPC's is located) also collapsed in real-life, due to exactly the same reasons.

Appearances[]

Call of Pripyat[]

Randomly-spawned Loners, Mercenaries, Zombified Stalkers, or occasionally mutants such as Rodents and Pseudodogs will spawn in the second floor of the eastern part of the building. The third floor is blocked by two unopenable gates. There is also a basement in which NPCs and the player can hide during emissions.

Before the final mission, Zulu can be found in the south-east part of the building, attacked by Snorks. He is part of an optional mission that requires the player to eliminate all the Snorks, doing so rewards the player with the unique Zulu's RP-74. During the Evacuation, the squad will make a push in front of the building, where a lot of snorks will attack the squad, as well as a psychic wave.

The ruined south-eastern wing hosts a cluster of Springboards and a Whirligig anomaly at the second floor, near where Loners/Mercenaries spawn. A gravitational artefact will regularly spawn there, by default a Goldfish.
