The First-aid kit, or Medkit, is a type of recovery item appearing in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.

Overview[]

All-purpose single-use medkit which can be used to handle injuries of different types and degrees of complexity. The first-aid kit can be used to restore a significant amount of health and can also be used to mend bleeding, though it is only effective against light bleeding as the bandage is far more efficient in that regard.

They appear in each of the four games, along with the more effective Army medkit and Scientific medkit. Their effectiveness, however, varies from game to game. In all games of the series, the medkit can also be used to heal injured NPCs.

Appearances[]

Shadow of Chernobyl[]

An all-purpose medkit. Used to treat injuries of various types and severities - wounds, burns, poisonings, etc.
― In-game description

In Shadow of Chernobyl, medkits only recover roughly a half of the health bar with each use, enough to counter one or two bullets, or a swipe from a powerful mutant. They offer very low protection to bleeding, so bandages must be taken in conjunction with them to counteract severe bleeding. In addition, they also remove some of the player's radiation, though much less than any other item of the game (including Cossacks vodka).

Acquisition[]

Medkits can be purchased from all merchants and occasionally found in the inventories of dead stalkers.

Three medkits can be found in the Bandit base armoury of the Dark Valley. Two medkits can be found in a blue case in Borov's office.

The medkit can be obtained from the following stashes:

Clear Sky[]

Basic medical kit. Handy for treating various injuries - wounds, burns, poisoning and others.
― In-game description

First-aid kits are slightly more effective in Clear Sky than in Shadow of Chernobyl. They heal anywhere from 30 to 50% of the player's health bar, but also deal with light bleeding and scrapes that the original variety didn't touch.

Acquisition[]

First-aid kits are sold by most traders and can be sometimes found in the bodies of NPCs.

Two first-aid kits are given by Docent Suslov when he provides the player with items at the beginning of the game.

Call of Pripyat[]

A general purpose single-use medical kit. Handy for treating various injuries - wounds, bruises, regular and chemical burns and various types of poisoning. In demand among stalkers.
― In-game description

In Call of Pripyat, like most consumables, first-aid kits have been overhauled so that their effect is no longer instantaneous and instead is duration-based (over 10 seconds). In spite of this, it remains a very effective item simply in virtue of being one of the most abundant healing items of the game. Unlike its previous renditions, it no longer heals radiation damage.

Acquisition[]

Medkits are a common find in the inventories of stalkers. They can be bought from Hermann, Tremor and Bonesetter. After the mission Missing Stalkers has been completed, at least one will be frequently deposited into the player's footlocker in the Skadovsk.
