The GP-25 Koster, or Kostyer, is a weapon attachment appearing in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.
Overview[]
The GP-25 is one of the two grenade launchers appearing in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series alongside its NATO counterpart, the M203 grenade launcher. Barring the different animations and ammunition, both weapons perform roughly the same. It can be used to bombard enemies from a distance, flush out targets hiding behind cover, and deal heavy damage to powerful mutants like the Pseudogiant. Although powerful, it is also rare if not expensive and destructive to both the enemy and the player if not used correctly. This weapon can only be mounted on Eastern Bloc weaponry.
In all games of the series, the Tunder S14 alongside its unique variants have a built-in GP-25 launcher.
Compatible Weapons[]
Shadow of Chernobyl:
- AKM-74/2
- Storming Obokan (non-detachable)

Appearances[]
Shadow of Chernobyl[]
A grenade launcher for the Akm 74/2 and Akm 74/2U.
― In-game description
In this game it is referred to as a GP-25 Kostyer , unlike in the two later games. It can only be equipped on the Akm-74/2 alongside its unique variant, the Fast-shooting Akm 74/2. The Storming Obokan also comes with a non-detachable GP-25.
Acquisition[]
The grenade launcher is quite rare. One can be found attached to an Akm 74/2 in Lab X-18, in one of the lockers. Snitch also has one in his inventory.
The Chest in the secret stash in the Dark Valley contains one.
Clear Sky[]
An under-barrel grenade launcher for assault rifles made in Warsaw Pact countries. Uses VOG-25 ammo.
― In-game description
The GP-25 returns in Clear Sky. It can be attached to the Akm 74/2 and the AC96/2, both weapons will need an upgrade beforehand.
Acquisition[]
In Clear Sky it became much more available as it can be bought from a number of traders, certain stashes and from Duty Exoskeleton units sporting heavily upgraded AC-96/2 assault rifles with a PSO-1 scope and a grenade launcher.
The GP-25 is sold by Mitay if Duty controls the Agroprom, Tooth if the Bandits control the Garbage and Ashot if Freedom controls the Dark Valley (after the Mercenaries have been driven out of the Dark Valley).
One can be acquired for free from Hermit after completing the job of recovering Abel's PDA. One is also received for free for joining Duty.
Call of Pripyat[]
A single shot, front loaded, rifled underbarrel grenade launcher for assault rifles made in Warsaw Pact countries. The firing mechanism is self-cocking, with a manual safety catch and automatic shot prevention if incorrectly installed onto a rifle. Uses VOG-25 grenades.
― In-game description
Like in Clear Sky, it is far more available and can be bought from all traders, found in numerous stashes and can be found attached to weapons carried by various high ranking stalkers. It can be attached to the AKM-74/2 and the AC-96/2, although the latter will need an upgrade beforehand.
Acquisition[]
The GP-25 is sold by Hawaiian after the player either exactly completes two missions in Jupiter for Duty or obtaining the achievement A Friend of Duty. It is also sold by Owl after obtaining either the achievement Boss or One of Ours, a little more frequently in the latter case.
Sergieyev and Spartacus both have a GP-25 attached to their AKM-74/2. Sergieyev's can be retrieved after completing the mission Missing recon unit, while Spartacus' may be obtained if he dies during the mission Transaction.
It can be found in the following stashes:
- Zaton - on the west of starting point, it's lying under first bigger rock, along with a PSO-1 scope and three VOG-25 grenades.
- Zaton - under one of smaller trees, north-west to the Sawmill, along with an AKM-74/2, two VOG-25 grenades and 120 5.45x39mm FMJ rounds.
- Jupiter - in Kopachy, atop the gray house in the southeastern corner of the village, along with a Tunder S14, 90 9x39mm SP-5 rounds, and two VOG grenades.
- Jupiter - in a truck near the Jupiter warehouse, along with an AC-96/2, PSO-1 scope and 180 5.45x39mm FMJ rounds.
