Note: In Cordon (starting area), you may find a wandering stalker who you can buy the Guitar and Harmonica from in the trade screen. I've only done 2 playthroughs of this game, but have found this stalker in the opening hour (real time) of both games. I never noted the name of the stalker in the first playthrough, but in the second his name was something along the lines of "Illya sawn off gun". I used patch v1.0006 also, and the Repair Mod v2.5.

The Guitar is an item featured in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.

Overview

SCS Guitar Loner

A loner playing on a guitar.

The guitar is a string instrument widely used by stalkers of all factions throughout the Zone to play music and raise spirits in the morbid world that is the Zone. Stalkers can often be seen playing guitars in camps, outposts, or other places of relative safety - usually by the fire.

Though it is neither usable nor sellable to and by the player, it can be obtained without game modifications. What is peculiar about this item is that in most cases a glitch needs to occur for the player to be able acquire it.

Appearances

Shadow of Chernobyl

The player can find the guitar alongside a few other items just north of the factory covering Lab X-18 in the Dark Valley.

The Guitar has no function and can be sold to Sidorovich for 30 RU. The player may find a stalker who has reverted to a beta inventory who is selling it.

Clear Sky

Seven-string guitar
― In-game description

Similar to Shadow of Chernobyl, a regular guitar is useless to the player and can only be obtained from a stalker with a reverted inventory. However, a guitar can be found in the same room as the Inquisitor's zoo. Of note is that a particular guitar is a mission item in the side mission Return Serega's guitar in which you must return a stolen guitar that belongs to Serega.

Call of Pripyat

A trusty Guitar.
― In-game description

Stalkers leading squads may, after surviving a combat situation, revert to a unique inventory and sell this item, as well as a blank PDA and a harmonica. Even so, guitar is still as useless to the player as in previous games.

Trivia

  • In Shadow of Chernobyl, the guitar has no item description.
  • Even though the description in Clear Sky says "seven-string," a regular acoustic guitar has only six strings. Seven-string guitars are unique to Russia and the surrounding countries.
