The Hotel is a location in Pripyat featured in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.

Background

The Polissya hotel was built in the mid-1970 to host delegations visiting the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant[1]. It is one of the tallest buildings of the city, and is located beside the Palace of Culture and the Ferris Wheel in the central part of Pripyat.

Shadow of Chernobyl

The Polissya hotel is a landmark in the Shadow of Chernobyl rendition of Pripyat. It is located in the central part of the map, just at the exit of the underground car park where the Loners experts and Strelok split up.

Before the events of the game, it was where Strelok and his group established a hideout, in one of the hotel rooms. Shortly before the final events of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky, Strelok's friend Fang left one of the two unique Decoders in the said hotel room[2], and gave the room's key to Doc.

The Hotel is visited as part of the "The Monolith's secret" mission. In order to gain access to the hideout, the player must have spoken to Guide after completing the Lab X-16 missions, then have been to the Agroprom Underground, where Doc gives Strelok the key. The player can then unlock the door. Getting access to the room is needed to get the two C-Consciousness endings, otherwise the player will have to stick to the Wish Granter endings. Aside from the decoder, one can find a Skat-9M military armoured suit and documents written by Strelok's group in the hideout.

The ground floor of the building is occupied by a few Monolith fighters. There is only one accessible floor, besides the ground floor.

Call of Pripyat

CoP Hotel

The Hotel can be seen as a background element of Pripyat in Call of Pripyat. It is at the north-western part of the map, and can be easily seen by standing by the map limit, or from the rooftop of the Yubileiny Service Center. It is, however, outside the playable area and is therefore not accessible.

Trivia

  • For whatever reason, in Shadow of Chernobyl, the Hotel does not feature the distinctive roof structure and top floor of its real life counterpart. This is not the case in Call of Pripyat, however.
  • It is entirely possible to get the Decoder without speaking to Doc. This can be done by throwing grenades inside the room, from the top of the building beside, until the Decoder is close enough for the player to take it from the window. However, the player will not be able to get the SKAT-9M suit stored inside, which can be very useful in the final levels.
