He has been Sultan's designated hitman for some time.
Call of Pripyat
Knuckles serves as Sultan's bodyguard on board the Skadovsk, watching over him at all times. He's also the head of Sultan's strike team, which regularly attempts to complicate things for Loners throughout the Zaton area. Sultan offers the player a job that involves cooperating with Knuckles and his crew in a night-time ambush of the Loners trying to make a living in another shipwreck in the area. Depending on the players' choice, the Loners either remain at the wreck and set up an ambush, leave the area, or if left unaware will simply be shot in their sleep.
Knuckles - unless the player directly intervenes on his side - will likely die in the close quarters if the Loners are given the heads-up about the raid. If the inhabitants leave, he immediately assumes the player was a snitch and attempts to kill him.
If he survives, Knuckles will appear in the Transaction mission (in which the player is required to interact with him to initiate the quest). He may be killed or can be saved depending on one's actions. If Knuckles also survives the mission, he will patrol the Ranger Station for the rest of the game.
- Like all important characters, Knuckles' corpse remains forever, letting players use it as a stash of sorts.
- Despite being a bandit in appearance and in function, Knuckles and his assault team are classified as Loners - likely to keep the Loners from attacking them until a specific time.
