The M1911 (named 'Kora 919' in-game) handgun is a popular American-made pistol chambered to use .45 ACP ammunition. It was the US Army's standard-issue sidearm from 1911 through 1985 and it, along with its countless derivatives, has remained popular in law enforcement, civilian and military applications all around the world.

This weapon is featured in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.

Characteristics

The M1911 could be considered the 'entry-level' .45 pistol. It is a balanced sidearm, combining good firepower and durability. It's less susceptible to damage and jamming than most pistols.

Appearances

Shadow of Chernobyl

The M1911 is a good upgrade from the Walther P99 in the early game, since it fires more powerful .45 bullets. Compared to the SIG Sauer P220 and Heckler & Koch USP Compact, the M1911 is heavier and more accurate, but has heavier recoil and is not as powerful.

A version with an attached silencer is carried by a stalker named Sparrow, whom Barkeep wants you to kill in an optional mission. A silencer cannot be attached to the weapon under normal circumstances. Two Colt M1911s can be found with ammo inside a stash in Agroprom. The weapon can also be bought from Barkeep.

The stash of Borov in the Dark Valley contains the .45 and a few rounds of .45 ACP Hydroshock.

The M1911

The pistol can usually be bought from most traders, but as an alternative method of getting this weapon for free early in the game, the player can either:

  1. Go to the Dark Valley and take Ganja's job for clearing out the gas station of a bandit squad just outside the Freedom base. The bandits there will almost all carry Colt M1911 pistols along with a few spare rounds.
  2. Do the job from Yoga, where the player would have to clean out the flea market of stalker. One of the rewards is a stash with a fully upgraded Colt M1911, tooled for damage and accuracy.
  3. Clear out the concentration camp in the Garbage of bandits. One of the diggers will thank him by giving him the coordinates of the same stash in the task above.

Some experienced and veteran Loners carry this weapon as a sidearm with upgrades, but Monolith veterans are known to use this as their standard issue sidearm. When fully upgraded for accuracy and damage, the M1911 is unparalleled in distant shooting and delivers decent damage in terms of pistols. Albeit it has the highest overall accuracy, in terms of damage it only falls short of the Desert Eagle. It is also has the second lowest overall firing rate, just below the Desert Eagle. It can be fitted with a silencer.

Call of Pripyat

Of all the pistols in the game the M1911 seems to have the heaviest recoil, on par with the Black Kite, which is probably a better choice for a 'sniper' pistol. It can no longer be fitted with a silencer.

This is a common .45 pistol found in the Zone. Loners, Bandits, and Zombified Stalkers carry this most often as a sidearm. Less common among higher-ranking Freedom and Duty members, who favor the UDP Compact as their sidearm of choice.

One can be found in X8, in a nook on a shelf in a lab with ankle-deep water.

Trivia

  • In the unpatched version of Shadow of Chernobyl, the Colt was virtually non-existent as it is not sold by any trader and not held by any other stalker, save for Sparrow's custom pistol. In subsequent patches: it appears in Barkeep's sale.
  • The M1911 was the standard issue sidearm of the US infantry during the main part of the 20th century.
