What are you standing there for stalker? If you want to go through, come up and we'll have a chat. If not, I suggest you take off before we get angry.
Background[edit | edit source]
A corrupt and pompous soldier, Kuznetsov is stationed at the embankment below the bridge in the Cordon with a squad of Ukrainian Soldiers to prevent stalkers from entering the Zone. However, he routinely accepts bribes from stalkers in exchange for letting them pass through the checkpoint unharmed.
Appearances[edit | edit source]
Shadow of Chernobyl[edit | edit source]
Major Kuznetsov can be found at the checkpoint beneath the broken railroad bridge in the center of the Cordon. Kuznetsov is armed with an AKS-74u and a unique variant of the Fort-12Mk2, called the Fort-15. He also wears the Commander variant of the standard Military Armour. Kuznetsov can be bribed with 500 rubles in exchange for safe passage through the checkpoint, or killed (if he is killed however, a new squad will arrive after a few days, who cannot be bribed and will shoot on sight). While difficult to fight in the beginning hours of the game, Kuznetsov and his squad is the best bet for an early assault weapon, and most certainly easier than attempting to storm the military outpost in the southern cordon. Also, after having retrieved the documents from the X18 Laboratory, he and his men will shoot on sight without giving the player the chance to bribe them.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Major Kuznetsov is the highest ranking Military Officer that can be seen physically in STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl.
- It can be assumed that Major Kuznetsov replaced Major Khaletskiy as Commanding Officer at the Cordon checkpoint, as Khaletskiy is absent from the game entirely, and Kuznetsov shares the same rank.
- Coordinates to his personal cache inside the Military Checkpoint can be found on his corpse.
