A regular black leather trench coat. Has no special purpose other than to keep the wearer warm at night or protect from a blind dog bite. Although the trench coat is not particularly comfortable, it is often used by Bandits in the Zone - either because it allows them to hide in the dark or simply due to its "cool" appearance.

The Leather trench coat is an outfit that appears in all three S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games. It is available to the player in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.
Overview[]
The in-game coat is basically a slightly worn, black leather trench coat with a hood and turtle-neck inner jacket. The trenchcoat is usually worn by Bandits and Renegades, although some Loners wear it as well. The game also features a brown variant, unavailable to the player but frequently worn by Bandits. NPCs wearing the suit often wear the coat with the hood on and in combination with a mask covering the lower half of their face or a balaclava, save for unique NPCs who wear it with the hood down and no headwear.

Call of Pripyat[]
It is essentially the equivalent of the leather jacket from the previous games, unable to protect the player from even a pistol round or anomalies as it lacks a bulletproof vest or anomalous protection equipment.
Since the trench coat is incapable of reliably protecting the player from anything, and considering the player's starting armor is a much better Sunrise suit, it is unlikely to be of any use to the player. However, it is extremely cheap to maintain and upgrade; this, combined with its low weight, may make the outfit of interest to some.
Acquisition[]
The trench coat can be purchased from Owl for around 500 RU, although it becomes extremely rare after the player obtains either the achievement One of Ours or Boss.
Upgrades[]
 Simple steel plates sewn into a trench coat.

 Thickened inserts to reduce the force of bullet impacts felt through body armor.

 This labor-intensive and time consuming upgrade is not very popular, although it has been known to save lives.

 The underlayer will help if the main fabric is torn.
|
 Basic protection against rain and caustic substances coming into contact with the skin.
 Fabric treated with a fire-resistant substance is popular among stalkers searching for fire artifacts.

|
 An ergonomic improvement: special mounts attached to the bodysuit allow for carried weight to feel lighter.
