Leshiy was a Mercenary during S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky and became a member of Freedom during S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.

leshiy can be found at the entrance to the yantar factory. he and his squad lead scar into the factory to fix the cooling station. it is likely that he will die on the way out, unless you protect him. this is not advised however, as he has nothing to offer anyway.

Shadow of Chernobyl

Some time after the events of Clear Sky, Leshiy joins the newly relocated Freedom faction. He assumes a lesser role as a guard of the base's entrance, along with Twig. He is armed with the Sniper SGI, an unique variant of the SIG SG-550 assault rifle.

Background

A short bio that was omitted from S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl describes him as follows.^[1]

Leshiy, as his brother calls him, came to the Zone a young idealist. However, after few years of living a hair's breadth away from death, he turned into a cynical realist. Considers the Zone his home, and thinks those who failed are unworthy to walk the face of the Earth.

Trivia

Leshiy is the only one to call Scar by his callsign Scar instead of Merc. This is viewed when talking to him to claim your reward.
If all of Leshiy's team survives the assault on the bridge to Limansk, he rewards you with a Kolobok artifact.
If most of Leshiy's team survives the assault, he rewards you with a Flame artifact.
It is likely his Sniper SGI is the same SIG SG-550 he had in the events of Clear Sky, albeit slightly modified.
To date, Hog, Slasher and Leshiy are the only unique Mercenaries in the entire S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series remain totally neutral to the player.
He is the only expert ranked Mercenary in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky.
He is the only Mercenary to use a Stalker Suit.
