Sergeant Merkulov is a character that appears in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.

Background[]

Merkulov is one of the few survivors of Operation Fairway. It is unknown which Stingray he was part of.

Appearances[]

Call of Pripyat[]

Merkulov is one of the military survivors encountered in Pripyat. He is patrolling both floors of the Laundromat, but will move to the main room after Sergieyev dies. Like most of the soldiers, he cannot be interacted with; instead, if the player attempts to speak with him, he will advise the player to speak to Kovalsky.

If Vano did not survive the Jupiter Underground or wasn't recruited, Merkulov will replace him during the assault on the Book Store. His weapon - a SA Avalanche - and his armor make him a valuable fighter during the mission.

Later in the story, Merkulov and three other soldiers (Yarmoshuk, Skelya and Rogovets) go missing later in the story, having been sent out by Kovalsky to try to find the device that jams the communication with HQ. It appears that they attempted to breach into the Kindergarten, but suffered from prolonged exposure to the building's psi-field and killed themselves afterwards (save for Rogovets). Kovalsky sends the player out to investigate, leading to the Major discovering the bodies near the Kindergarten.

Related missions[]

  • Monolith forces: If Vano did not accompany the player to Pripyat or died on the way there, he takes part in the assault against the Monolith garrison in the Book Store.
  • Radio interference: Merkulov goes missing while attempting to find the source of the radio interference, prompting the Colonel to send the player out to investigate.

Trivia[]

  • His body never disappears, which means the player can use it as a stash of some sort.
