---|
A mobile lab resembles a small, armored bunker with tiny windows of tainted glass. The lab is capable of withstanding a lot of damage and with its reliable life-support systems it can work autonomously for several months. The bunker is delivered into the Zone by a transport helicopter. The lab staff never allows visitors pass (sic) the external air-lock chamber, so no stalker has ever been inside one.
― Encyclopedia
The Mobile Lab is a location in Yantar in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. In Heart of Chornobyl it is known as Scientist Bunker.
Overview[]
The mobile lab is an above-ground bunker that can be picked up and moved via helicopter and serves as a base of operations for various scientists and ecologists who work in the Zone. This specific lab is found in Yantar, to the south of the Production complex, and is home to Professor Sakharov and his expedition. The entrance to the bunker is an airtight dock. There is also a helipad on the roof. Despite the Encyclopedia description stating no stalkers ever have been inside one, Marked One or Scar can simply walk in to talk to Sakharov or Kruglov.
Appearances[]
Shadow of Chernobyl[]

A Duty soldier guarding the bunker in Shadow of Chernobyl
The Mobile Lab plays an important role in the storyline. The Barkeep sends the Marked One to the bunker to talk to Sakharov regarding Lab X-16. Sakharov later sends the Marked One to accompany Kruglov (or Semenov in case Kruglov was killed in the Wild Territory) take psi measurements in the vicinity of the complex to help his research. Sakharov then provides the Marked One with a Psi-helmet that enables him to go inside Lab X-16 and deactivate its emitter.
Initially, the lab is only populated by Sakharov and Kruglov (or Semenov). After the emitter in Lab X-16 is shut down, Duty will send a squad to protect the lab, led by the Warrant Officer.
Clear Sky[]
In Clear Sky the player must go to Yantar to talk to Sakharov regarding Strelok's whereabouts. Sakharov hires the player to help his stalkers repair the faulty cooling system so that the psi-emissions will cease. The bunker regularly comes under assault from zombies but unlike Shadow of Chernobyl, it is guarded by stalkers. After the player and Lefty's team successfully fix the cooling, the bunker becomes a safe place.
