The RGD-5 Grenade is a hand-grenade appearing in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat.

Background

Rgd5

The RGD-5 is a Soviet-made fragmentation grenade that contains 110g of TNT, although it mostly relies on its explosion for damage due to its lack of splinters capable of reliably penetrating armor outside its kill-zone. Today, this grenade is one of the cheapest hand-held explosives in the market costing only 5 US dollars a piece, although it is low powered compared to modern grenades. Original RGD-5 grenades are still being produced in Russia, although clones are being made all-over the world.

Overview

In the Zone, the RDG-5 is the most common explosive device available and carried by most stalkers, it is also fairly cheap with one costing about 500-600 rubles per piece only. Although it has a low blast radius, the RGD is invaluable for room clearing and urban combat as due to its low powered nature, its explosion limits its destruction to a small area.

The RGD-5 is only slightly weaker than the F1 grenade - at point-blank range it can only deal 300 damage as opposed to 360. Although the main difference is that the RGD-5 has a smaller blast radius than the F1.
