The Chernobyl NPP
The Sarcophagus is the name of the concrete layers built around the fabled Reactor 4 of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
Description
In the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, the Monolith faction has seized the Sarcophagus just like all other parts of the power plant. It is deep within the Sarcophagus that the legendary Wish Granter is said to be. The Sarcophagus is heavily irradiated and one will continue to accumulate radiation unless high class armors with powerful radiation protection or enough radiation protection artifacts are worn.
Opposition
The Sarcophagus is guarded by veteran and expert Monolith troops carrying various type of weaponry and armor, most notably the Gauss Rifle and the FT-200M. Inside the Monolith Control Center you will encounter a number of Pyrogeists although you can avoid them by staying out of the room; refer to the walkthrough for more information about the Monolith Control Center.
