The Shevchenko (Шевченко), or Taras Shevchenko (Тарас Шевченко), is a location in Zaton. It appears in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.

Overview[edit | edit source]

Decal shevchenko.png

Much like Skadovsk, the Shevchenko is the rusted wreck of an old tanker ship, and a landmark of the swampy region of Zaton. Although it's not a full-fledged stalker camp, it does provide good cover in case of an Emission for Stalkers who otherwise wouldn't make it in time to Skadovsk. Only one mission, The Hit, takes place in the Shevchenko's vicinity.

Layout[edit | edit source]

The ship is much smaller and less complicated if compared to its distant relative, the Skadovsk. It has no signs of any kind of work put into repurposing the ship into a domicile, possibly due to the wreck being in far worse shape than the Skadovsk – one can forget luxuries such as company of fellow stalkers or electricity. Nevertheless, in the southeastern end of the Shevchenko, bottom deck, you can find three bottles of vodka hidden behind a steel beam and some sort of naval equipment.

Inhabitants[edit | edit source]

There are no permanent dwellers, only occasional visiting stalkers who, in most cases, only take refuge and cover from an Emission before moving on. During The Hit mission, Spartacus' team stays here.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Texture file suggests that most probably this ship is named after a Ukrainian poet, Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko (Тарас Григорович Шевченко). He lived in the 19th century.
  • The other, very unlikely possibility is that this ship's name is a reference to Vladimir Shevchenko, a Ukranian film-maker who was permitted into the area around the Chernobyl disaster.
