Stamina (also called endurance and energy) is the player's overall energy, represented by a light blue bar on the default HUD, and is used to move. If the player loses too much stamina, the player will be unable to run, jump or even walk. The player slowly loses stamina by walking, if overencumbered, but loses it regardless of conditions by running and jumping. Carrying too much will affect the stamina loss across the board.

Losing stamina[]

In the most basic sense, the player loses stamina by movement, and moving faster will deplete stamina faster, meaning sprinting and jumping will use up stamina while walking will not. Weight also plays a crucial role in stamina loss and gain, as the more weight the player carries, the faster stamina decreases. For example if one is carrying 55 kilograms of gear, above the maximum recommended limit, the player loses stamina by merely walking. Sprinting and jumping with such encumbrance will use up stamina very quickly. If 2/3 of the stamina bar is lost, the player becomes unable to sprint. If it is nearly empty, the player will be unable to move.

  • Running (normal state) - about 7% per second.
  • Running (total weight less than 50%) - about 3% per second.
  • Running (overencumbered) - about 20% per second.
  • Walking (normal state) - about 0.1% per second.
  • Walking (weight less than 50%) - about 0.05% per second.
  • Walking (overencumbered) - about 0.9% per second.
  • Jump (normal state) - about 4%.
  • Jump (total weight less than 50%) - about 3%.
  • Jump (overencumbered up to 10 kg) - about 25%.
  • Jump (overencumbered up to 20 kg) - about 30%.
  • Jump (overencumbered 30 kg and higher) - 50-90%.
  • Vodka consumption (CoP) — -3%.

Gaining stamina[]

The simplest way to restore stamina is by standing still and letting the stamina bar recharge by itself. The fastest way is drinking energy drinks, as one energy drink will restore the bar to 2/3. In Call of Pripyat, the effect is changed to simply increase the regeneration rate drastically. Using endurance restoring artifacts like the Snowflake and Moonlight will also increase the player's stamina gain.

  • Wait - stamina will restore itself over time.
  • Equip artifacts :
    • For SoC - .
    • For both CS and COP - .
    • Call of Pripyat only - "Heart of the Oasis".
  • Remove certain artifacts in SOC - .
  • Energy Drink -instantly restores stamina Clear Sky and SoC . In CoP - increases its restoration speed.
  • Put on a unique suit SoC - .
  • Put on an upgraded suit ( Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat only) - some suit modifications (in CoP also helmet) increase the speed of stamina recovery.
  • Choose a lighter Suit (or take it off altogether) ( CoP ) - the lighter the suit, the greater the endurance reserve.
  • Eat ( CoP ) - eating food increases stamina.

Trivia[]

  • It is possible to reduce stamina costs to effectively zero, meaning stamina will regenerate even while running.
  • If you save while running, the player will use up much more stamina.
  • Sprinting can be interrupted not only when the stamina reserve is low, but also if the main character receives damage.
  • Burer can burn out your stamina, so drinking an energy drink before fighting him is advisable.
  • Controllers can burn stamina in close combat, but only partially.
  • If you throw away all equipment in CoP, the "energy" of the main character will always be full (eternal sprint, jumps). However, attacks from Burers will still decrease the stamina bar.
