Looks like the crew died in mid-air and the helicopter simply crashed because there was nobody there to fly it. The on-board computer was a little luckier. I wonder if there is anything useful here... Ah, there's something. A map of the area, with certain locations marked. That should come in handy.

Stingray 2: investigate the crash site is one of five missions that serve as the basis for the story line. These missions can be completed in any order. The Stingray 2 helicopter crashed in the Iron Forest anomaly in Zaton.
The only threat here is a Poltergeist around the crash site. It is not required to eliminate it in order to search the wreckage, as it is possible to sneak around the area without being detected by the Poltergeist.
Major Degtyarev's investigation allows him to recover the Hind's computer data, containing detailed maps of the area. This triggers the mission Area Maps.
Trivia[]
- Unlike the rest of the helicopters, searching the wreck is completely optional. However, Area Maps will grant the player discounts from Pilot, making it very useful.
