Obviously not a model straight out of the factory, this 550 is nevertheless in top contidition, clearly it's previous owner took good care of it. It is fully upgraded, with parts perfectly interlocked and working, giving tremendous increase in killing efficiency. S is carved into the stock neatly, along with 16 small notches.

This weapon is a custom variant of the SIG SG-550, and part of a tertiary quest involving the UAV in Yanov. It is found in the last of the three caches unearthed from the UAV's memory module, along with the corpse of Nitro's assistant, Senka, whom is carrying an inordinate amount of supplies for a Loner - making up for the fact that aside from the Arrow and bits of paper, the caches are all empty (if you take the module to Novikov the stashes contain medicine and ammunition, meaning that Senka stole them from the other stashes before dying in the anomaly).

Appearances

Call of Pripyat

This weapon previously belonged to Strelok, hence the S. Depending on the player's route, it can be found in three different locations. See UAV Recon Quest for more details.

As for the weapon itself, the SG-550 contests closely with the H&K G36K and FN F2000 for the title of best NATO weapon. However, unlike the other two weapons, it can be fully equipped with a scope, grenade launcher, AND silencer and boasts the highest stopping power per shot of the 3 - but as a drawback will never be as accurate as the GP-37 (despite real world performance), lacks the auto-targeting and rate of fire of a fully-upgraded FN 2000 and it has stiff recoil without purchasing all of the recoil reducing upgrades. It essentially comes down to player preference as to which weapon they prefer. It should however be noted that the SG-550 Arrow is the only one which can be silenced and may be easier to use for newer players for its simplicity and flexibility. Because it has high accuracy once fully upgraded, has higher damage, and can accept a scope and silencer it also acts as a good marksman rifle too.

Behind the Scenes

  • The weapon was modelled after the SIG SG-550.
  • It's unknown how Strelok left this weapon for Fang to make use of, since Strelok was using a SIG SG-550 at the Chernobyl NPP during the events of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky. It is possible but unlikely that he was using a different model.
  • The Russian name, "SG-550 Стрелка" has two translations to the english: SG-550 Arrow (СтрЕлка, with stress on Е) and Strelok's SG-550 (СтрелкА, with stress on А). The last variant is more correct.
