Tactical Helmet vs. Sphere-12[]
For now I just removed the line, if you really think one helmet is much better than the other... post your arguments here. Cement Plant 12:04, February 23, 2010 (UTC)
Is it just me, or does the thermal enhancement upgrade not work? I've installed it on the helmet in game, but there is no lock on... I have version 1.6.02, -Boredgunner
It's range is extremely short, so I imagine it is a bug of some kind, or a typo. It is coded into the game and from what I know about STALKER scripting it all looks bulletproof - except for the fact its effective range is around 3.5 - 10m, at which point the user is probably going to die anyways if they're fighting other Stalkers. It also 'tags' hostile stalkers on your minimap, but again, the range is so miniscule you will be dead, and probably deserve to die for letting them get that close to begin with. Ah, I see now. They only show up on the minimap which is quite useful. Thanks for the info. Boredgunner
I noticed that as well in game. I changed the page to reflect what it actually does.AnomalousStalker 11:29, February 15, 2010 (UTC)
I hated that, I spent all that time looking for those tools and all that money upgrading my berill suit and thats all I got? Pfft, I'd rather have my exoskeleton with 4 artifact containers and higher everything. Then I can lug around a rocket launcher, a machine gun, a sniper, an assualt rifle and like 1000 ammos. I went and did some more digging. There IS a Thermal goggles gradient included in the game files - as well as third-generation night vision. The problem is that the thermal gradient is not referenced correctly in an obscure .ltx file I just stumbled upon - and third-generation night vision uses the same gradient as second-gen (third-generation has a wider gradient, giving an even higher resolution, but is still green). Tweaking and adding to SoP, that's for sure. LonerDeacon 06:40, February 28, 2010 (UTC)
The Sphere-08 name[]
We can't exactly say that this helmet is the same as the helmet mounted on the Beril 5-M. The design is the same but the tactical helmet is probably a different variant of the Sphere-08. I suggest that the name goes back as Tactical Helmet.

- There is no evidence pointing to the fact that it's a different one. It looks identical and fulfills the same function. Furthermore, the Sphere-12 helmet. It looks identical to the helmets in SHOC and CS, the name is mentioned in SHOC and CS descriptions and, well, it became a separate piece of equipment in COP. By analogy, it's the same thing with the Sphere-08 tactical helmet. If it looks like a cow, it is a cow :)

Also the "Sphere" designation is obviously for the Soviet helmets. American helmets wouldn't use the same name. Renamed article. Boredgunner 19:44, August 22, 2010 (UTC)
- It isn't an American helmet, nor is it a Soviet one. Its origin or the reason why it is used by the Ukrainian Spetznaz is not explained. Facts:
- 1. It is an integral component of the Berill-5m armour, which in SHOC and CS comes with a Sphere-08 helmet.
- 2. The tactical helmet looks identical to the Sphere-08 helmet mentioned above.
- 3. The inventory and upgrade images in COP are identical to the SHOC/CS helmet and are marked with a band stating that the helmet is used by Ukraine's military forces (соп UA, likely stands for сил обороны пограничных Ukraina, Border Defence Force of Ukraine).
- 4. It's even mentioned at the bottom of the current article that it's used in conjunction with a Berill-5m.
- So, to sum up, there's nothing in either of the games that would contradict it being a Sphere-08 helmet, especially since we simply don't know if the Sphere series of helmets are Soviet-made or imported from the West. COP suggests it's the latter.

Gas mask[]
Minor thing, It really looks like the gas mask used by Spetsnaz and the Helmet is the same one as the mercs used, with the upper part of the lenses obscured by the helmet rim. So the helmet may not be western-pattern, but the mask is? AstralShapeShifter 00:05, September 20, 2010 (UTC)
- Ohh lawdy forgot to write back. I'm actually doubting that the mask is even Western made as the mask highly resembles the: Bulgarian PDE-1 Gas Mask. And I might be off with my Geography but Bulgaria isn't part of Western Europe either.
