Sultan, leader of the bandits on Skadovsk
As you enter Skadovsk, Knuckles yells and waves you over to talk to Sultan, the leader of the bandits.
Summary
Sultan offers you an opportunity to make some money and by helping the bandits raid a group of stalkers aboard the Shevchenko working for Beard. After accepting the job from Sultan you can talk to Knuckles to help the bandits with the raid or speak with Beard, Grouse or Spartacus and tip off the stalkers about the raid.
Choices
Working for Sultan
Talk to Knuckles and stick with him until midnight or wait until 2300 hours for the raid to begin. Follow Knuckle's team and ambush the stalkers aboard the Shevchenko. In order to win, all the stalkers on board must die. Speak with Knuckles or newly "promoted" leader of the bandits (because Knuckles died during the fight) for your share of the loot. Return to Sultan to complete the mission and receive your reward.
Tell Grouse
Before talking to Knuckles, speak with Grouse, informing him of the impending raid. Grouse devises a plan to ambush the raid then advises the player to talk to Knuckles. When the raid takes place; the Stalkers are prepared and waiting. The player can find Spartacus and talk to him. He tells the player that they will ambush the raid, and when the shots are fired to open up on them from the rear. Talk to Spartacus after the raid takes place to recieve an item reward.
Tell Spartacus
Before talking to Knuckles inform Spartacus that his men are about to be raided by the bandits. Spartacus will ask you to join the bandits in the raid and attack them from behind once the fighting begins. After the ambush, your reward is slightly better than tipping of Beard.
Tip off Beard and...
Tell Beard about the raid before speaking to Knuckles. He will ask you to "help plan a surprise" for the bandits.

Beard will immediately offer you another mission involving the bandits.

Refuse to Help

If you choose NOT to assist the stalkers, the bandits will search the interior of the Shevchenko and not find any stalkers on board. Surprised, Knuckles will know something is up and accuse you of snitching to the stalkers, then ask you to "empty your pockets...". You can choose to give him all your money and he will leave you alone or you can choose not to, and fight the bandit raiding party. The mission will fail, and Sultan nor Beard will not mention this mission again.
If the Bandits defeat the Stalkers and you did not help, then the Bandits will not know you sold them out. You will not get a cut of the loot; instead you will get a smaller reward from Sultan.
Skipping the Raid
It is also possible to accept the mission from Sultan and ignore it entirely. One of the side will win (most likely Knuckles and the bandits). If the stalker wins, Spartacus will continue on to the next mission; if the bandits win, Knuckles will continue on.

Notes
Once Knuckles starts running towards Shevchenko, the ship the stalkers are on, you can run upstairs and sleep until the sky is bright without failing/cancelling the mission. Now that the sun is up, this make the raid a bit easier to fight than at night when you only see by means of your flashlight. If Knuckles reaches the staging area behind the Shevchenko and you sleep more 5-6 hours, you will fail the mission.
