― In-game description

The Unidentified weapon is a unique weapon featured in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.

Overview[]

"Unidentified weapon" is the name given to the Gauss rifle in Call of Pripyat before it is formally identified by the player with Cardan's help during the main storyline. From a gameplay perspective, there are a few differences with the regular Gauss rifle: it has a higher bullet velocity and effective range, is significantly more durable, and cannot make use of Homemade batteries. In addition, the weapon is configured to become inoperable once its condition is below 60%, which results in the weapon constantly jamming when operated.

Acquisition[]

The Unidentified weapon is carried by the Monolith Preacher and must be acquired during the mission of the same name. When the player retrieves the weapon, its condition is at 0%, making it unusable. After the player acquire the Documents concerning item 62 from the Testing Workshop, they can take the weapon to Cardan who will exchange it for a regular Gauss rifle after a few in-game hours.

Glitches[]

  • Under normal circumstances, the weapon is inoperable when acquired due to its condition being 0% when found. However, the player may acquire the Unidentified weapon in random condition provided they manage to catch the weapon in mid-air, or if a Monolith fighter picks up the weapon during the shootout. If the player acquires it with a condition bar of more than 60%, they will be able to make early use of the weapon; however, it will be still considered broken for storyline reasons until repaired by Cardan.

Trivia[]

  • The weapon is referred to as "UMIROTVORITEL" in its configuration file.
