Docent Suslov is a member of Clear Sky faction. He also acted as the faction's trader.
Background
He serves as the faction's trader and is the one to hand out all Clear Sky faction quest rewards. At the beginning of the game, he gives the player a first set of weapons and medical equipment.
Overview
Unlike Grey he is not quite as useful to the player in the end-game, but he is one of the cheapest ammunition and medical supply traders, and only Sakharov pays more for artifacts. Secondly, unlike Sakharov he accepts weapons – a thrifty player can condense their shopping trips into the Clear Sky encampment if they bring enough salvaged weapons to make up the difference.
Notes
- Mikhail Suslov was Second Secretary of the Soviet Union. The name, however, may be a coincedence.
- Interestingly enough, Suslov expresses a desire to pool all Zone traders' resources and use them to find a way past the Brain Scorcher. This exact thing happens in Shadow of Chernobyl, though it appears only Sidorovich and the Barkeep are in on the plan by then.
- Suslov's name is mentioned in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat on the Order of Transfer in the X8 Lab that insinuates he, Lebedev, and Professor Beanpolev were involved with noosphere research there and possibly at Lab X8.
- Docent is likely not his real first name – it is often a title given to those working under a full Professor. Suslov could be Kalancha's or Lebedev's Docent.
- While his full name is a mystery, his initials are presumably "I.A" (or "V.I.").
