- Vampire

Vampire (Upyr / Упырь) is an experienced Loner appearing in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.

Background Edit

Stalker born under a lucky star. Many times, the teams he was with would end up in tight spots and every time he was the only survivor. Most stalkers stay away from him on account of the bad luck he is said to bring. Has been roaming the Zone on his own for quite some time now.[1]

Appearances Edit

Shadow of Chernobyl Edit

He is one of the assassination targets of the Barkeep, because the people who travel with Vampire mysteriously die, while he himself returns alive. He also carries a unique weapon; the Noiseless Viper.

Vampire seems to sit in either one of two locations; the stalker camp in Dark Valley or the stalker camp in the Army Warehouses. If found in Dark Valley, he is part of a group of Loners claiming to be peddling an extremely cheap Gauss Rifle for 800 RU as a front for robbing opportunistic stalkers. Once you buy the rifle from the stalker, he replies that he must run in to the barn and get the rifle for you. Once he is in the barn he gives the money to Vampire and shares it with the group and threatens the player to buzz off through the radio. If you refuse to leave the camp they will open fire.

Trivia Edit

  • Vampire may be based off Burbridge The Vulture, a character from the novel Roadside Picnic. Vulture has a very similar reputation for being the lone survivor of failed expeditions, however it is rumoured that his actions are far more malicious, abandoning fellow Stalkers for dead or even deliberately leading them into Anomalies to map their positions and effects.
