Van is a person who valued his independence and so was quick to join the Loners when Father Valerian formed an organized stalker group to liberate the loners from the tyranny of the Military and the Bandits.

Van has only a basic selection in upgrades, most of them are only Soviet weaponry such as the AKM-74/2.
