The Viper 5 9x18 is a unique weapon featured only in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.

Description

This unique Viper 5 was modified to shoot the 9x18mm caliber, as well as gaining very high reliability, akin to the Storming Obokan, the Akm 74/2U Special and the Noiseless Viper.

Acquisition

2012-02-11 00002 — An image from where the corpse of the loner is found, expressing the large number of anomalies in the tunnel.

The weapon can be found in the corpse of a Loner stalker in the Garbage. Look beyond the trains in the tunnel with filled with anomalies near the entrance to the Agroprom Research Institute. It's at the far end of the tunnel on the left. There is a large number of Vortex anomalies in the tunnel, so getting to the weapon and getting out again is quite an achievement. It's possible to navigate through the anomalies unscathed through judicious use of bolts, but a cautious player may wish to bring either a high-tier suit or many medkits and bandages to survive.

Walkthrough

Start along the north wall until you get past the front of the train engine, then stay along side the train until you reach the back. Without changing direction, sprint until you get to the south wall to minimize any damage you might take. Turn about 45 degrees to the right (northwest) and look for an opening to get back to the north wall. You may need to move into the tunnel further to see it. Once you're back to the north wall, turn 45 degrees southwest and go about half way until you see an opening back to your right. Once more to the south wall and you should start picking up some Radiation, so watch your health. To the north wall again and you should be clear to reach the corpse.

Notes

The inventory icon shows a HK53, which is a compact assault rifle chambered for 5.56x45mm ammunition. A number of Builds use this icon to represent the Viper 5.
