The Waste processing station is a location in Zaton in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
Overview[]
An old waste processing station on the bank of a river, whose dried up bed became the area of Zaton. It is located to the south of the Preobrazhensky bridge. Access from the building is done through the main doorways, although there is a secret path in one of the pipes behind the building which leads the player into the station.
Appearances[]
Call of Pripyat[]
The station is home to a large detachment of hostile Mercenaries, under the command of Hook and Ridge. The mercenaries will remain at the station until they are killed or the mission Pripyat 1 has been completed. Owl at the Skadovsk provides a mission that requires the player to fetch intelligence regarding the mercenaries' activities in the Zone from the station.
There are ten mercenaries in total in the building. They are armed with low-end weaponry, but killing them may prove to be challenging given the see-through structure of the floors, which allows the mercs to attack the player while they make their way inside the station. Alternatively, one may sneak inside the area to collect the data wanted by Owl.
After completing the mission, random Loners and Bandits may explore the building.
Heart of Chornobyl[]
The station is home to a small detachment of Noontiders, under the command of (). The station is being used for its titular purpose by the Noontiders, processing and recycling waste by the order of Strider.
Upon arrival at the WPS, Skif will hear Bluish over the radio asking for help. Upon being spoken to, Bluish will regale Skif that a monster turned all the other Noontiders into zombies, and only him and Jumper were able to escape, but Jumper is still being affected by the monster. He will then provide the mission that requires the player to kill a monster in the basement, informing Skif that their commander, () kept the key on him and could likely be found on the roof, meaning that the player will either have to sneak past or kill the zombified Noontiders to proceed.
The Noontiders are armed with low to mid-end weaponry, but killing them may prove to be challenging given the see-through structure of the floors, which allows the zombified stalkers to attack the player while they make their way inside the station. Alternatively, one may sneak inside the area and make their way to the roof by sneaking past, where they will find the corpse of (), who has fallen onto a pipe, still holding the key to the basement.
Once the player enters the basement, the monster will be revealed to be a Controller. The Controller can be turned into an easy kill if the player has either found or saved some Psi-block.
