Zombified Stalkers are stalkers who suffered extensive impact of psi-emissions in Yantar or other heavily affected parts of the Zone. Incautious stalkers who venture deep inside the Zone who quickly become insane, turning into walking semi-corpses. They are plentiful in the Zone, with some even reaching the perimeter. The 'zombification' process wipes out nearly all higher brain functions, making recovery almost impossible, however the Ecologists have found a person can be saved if quickly treated whilst still in the early stages. Zombified stalkers are still able to use their weapons, but they are rather stupid, murmuring bits of phrases which, though, are fully meaningless. Gradually, they lose all their skills and turn into zombies. They are usually very aggressive and can present a serious threat in large numbers.

Locations

Zombified stalkers can be found in the Wild Territory, Red Forest, Yantar along with the X16 laboratory with its underground tunnels, with several appearances in Pripyat as well.

Weapons

Zombies usually use Akm's, PMm's, sawn-offs and Vipers, but after you turn off the psi-emmisions in Yantar, you may come upon one carrying the pretty rare weapon of SPSA14 (perfect against snorks).

Tips

- Zombies are dumb, but very dangerous when they spot you. Zombies behave one or two ways: Stand idle in one spot, or will wander in a wide-radius circle, which is apparantly centered on the Brain Scorcher. Their visual capabilities are limited, so 'roving' zombies can often be approached from behind and taken out piecemeal with a silenced weapon.

- Try to score a headshot if you can. Especially if it's one of the (somehow rare) expert zombies (in exoskeleton, sometimes with SPSA14). - Zombie corpses don't leave gray spots on the radar.

- Use the PDA info on your own PDA to determine the presence of zombified stalkers. Under the 'contacts' tab, they will appear as persons allied to the 'Zombified' faction.

Bugs

Maybe it's not a bug, but zombies sprint away from grenades.
